The East High School web site will provide useful
information for parents, current students, and potential
students alike.
East High School is under the leadership of Principal
Mike Zelenovich, Vice Principals Kathy
Clausen, Chad Street, Linda Baker and Gail Soesbe. East is one of five high schools in the Des
Moines Public School District.
The school was established in 1861. The current
building that sits on East 13th street was completed in
1911. Three more additions were made to the building in
1955, 1966, and 1973, and a multi-million dollar
expansion and renovation was recently completed. A new
connector building was completed in January 2005. The
new gymnasium and community center were completed in
2006. East Academy was added in 2008 for 9th
graders.
